Central to each design is a hand-sculpted knob, a defining feature of Boyan’s work that enhances the organic quality of the collection’s forms. Sculpted entirely by hand from stoneware clay, each piece undergoes an oxidation firing process and is finished with hand-brushed glaze strokes.

This residency allowed Boyan and Luminaire Authentik’s artisans to merge traditional artistry with contemporary design, resulting in a timeless and unique collection that stands as a tribute to classical architecture and the enduring beauty of craftsmanship.

Zeynep Boyan is an artist and designer working with clay, creating abstract sculptures, furniture, and functional objects. She explores identity, connection, and belonging through the interplay of objects, spaces, and materials, blending ancient techniques with modern methods to craft unique, handmade pieces.

 

With a background in cinema, Boyan has lived in Istanbul, Brussels, Montreal, and Munich, which have influenced her understanding of identity and material sensibility. She is interested in the relationship between old and new, and the transient nature of a fast-paced world with centuries-old craftsmanship.

 

Since 2021, her work has been featured at Dubai Design Week, Dutch Design Week, London Design Festival, IDS Toronto, Souk MTL, and NYC Design Week.
